A Phased Approach

We view leadership transition as a three-phase process. The process has set time parameters, with the critical period being the first 90 days. Subsequent phases ensure that the process is sustained as results are measured and benefits realized.

Our services are customized for your organization’s particular needs.  Customization of phases can depend on the nature of the assignment, the individual’s progress to date, and the degree to which other organizational processes such as succession planning, staffing, and training and development are integrated into the leadership change process.

Phase 1: Assessment and Alignment

All behavioral change begins with an awareness of your strengths and areas for improvement. Effective leaders apply these insights to create tactical and strategic action plans and improve their choices when adapting to changing situations, expectations, and teams. The combination of awareness, acceptance, and action is essential to achieving measurable, accelerated, and sustainable improvements. Show/Hide Additional Info»

  • Analyze organizational barriers and enablers to change
  • Develop new leader's "road map " to prioritize action steps
  • Build stakeholder alignment
  • Document stakeholder expectations
  • Coach leader to build on existing strengths
  • Train leader and stakeholders about transition dynamics

Phase 2: Achieve Results

Accelerating positive results is built on the first phase of the executive coaching process. Until a leader can demonstrate early critical wins, their transition is at risk. Therefore, the focus of this phase is to accomplish two to three "small enough to win and big enough to matter" opportunities. Show/Hide Additional Info»

Phase 3: Accelerate Sustainability

Two to three critical wins are necessary to move into this phase, but without continued positive momentum, the transition remains in jeopardy. The focus of this phase is to identify and set baseline measurements for continued performance, reflect on "lessons learned", and share knowledge to improve the transition skills of others.
